Company Vitronic Profile www.its-ukreview.org 69 Thirty years of ITS and machine vision VITRONIC is a medium-sized, owner-managed group of companies comprising VITRONIC GmbH with its headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany, and several international subsidiaries. Since its establishment in 1984, the group has grown on the strength of its own resources. Today, VITRONIC is represented on four continents and is a world leader in industrial machine vision. In 2014, the VITRONIC Group generated total revenue of 120 million Euros. In the core sectors of industry automation, logistics and traffic technology, VITRONIC offers its customers a vast store of experience acquired over the last 30 years. VITRONIC’s core competency in the traffic technology sector is the monitoring of vehicles in free flowing traffic. With the PoliScan family of products, VITRONIC offers national agencies and private service providers systems for speed enforcement, red light enforcement and ANPR. Toll system operators use the TollChecker system to automate toll collection and enforcement. All VITRONIC traffic monitoring systems are based on laser scanner measurement technology (LIDAR, Light Detection and Ranging). This innovation enables high-precision measurements over several lanes of traffic and eliminates the need to integrate equipment into the road surface. Thanks to the benefits offered by LIDAR technology, more than 5,000 VITRONIC laser scanners are currently used in traffic monitoring across the globe. sales@vitronic.com www.vitronic.com Company Vysionics Profile Vysionics continues to lead the field in the development and application of advanced ANPR and enforcement solutions. Recently, Vysionics was acquired by Jenoptik Traffic Solutions, making it part of the world’s largest enforcement supplier. The advantages of this are twofold, with a greater exposure for Vysionics products to the international ITS sector, as well as introducing new devices and sensors to the UK market. Vysionics is best known as the global leader in average speed enforcement, having delivered more than 350 solutions to date. In early 2015, we also received Home Office Type Approval (HOTA) for an entirely new Level Crossing enforcement system, called VECTOR LX. This device is unique in bringing together scanning radar, video analysis and ANPR in one package, allowing fully non-invasive, automated enforcement to take place. Vysionics designed solutions deliver significant reductions in collisions and casualties, whilst improving traffic flows, capacity and emissions. By controlling average speed, driver behaviour is modified over a large area or length of road, resulting in safer driving conditions, more reliable journeys and reduced vehicle emissions. Roads monitored by SPECS typically see a >70% KSI reduction, when installed as part of a casualty reduction scheme; this on average saves more than £1.6m in casualty costs, per site, per year. In 2015, Vysionics will deliver the 1,000th VECTOR ANPR camera, proving it to be a very capable ANPR platform for a wide range of high end and enforcement projects; it is currently used in a level crossing enforcement, a national HGV levy monitoring solution, SPECS average speed enforcement, Police and parking security applications.
